Cinderella killed my father.
She thinks she can do anything because she's the Evil Queen. And my stepmother. The only thing she truly loves is her Demon Mirror. But the more she gazes into that thing, the crazier she becomes.
But I am no longer a child. I won't allow the Evil Queen to poison my heart and my home. Although my skin is white as snow, my soul is far from pure. I will make Cinderella suffer for her sins.
Sure as my name is Snow White.
Sneaky Snow White Dark Fairy Tale Queen Series Book 2 (Audible Audio Edition) Anita Valle Caitlin Kelly Books
According to Anita Valle in the second book of the Dark Fairy Tale Queen Series, Sneaky Snow White, Snow White was no angel. Though we’d like to think of her as an innocent young woman fleeing for a life threatened by an evil queen, Valle goes beyond the veil of legend and reveals a darker side to Snowy. In this version of the Grimm Brother’s fairy tale, Snow White’s evil stepmother is Cinderella, and each plots the other’s death.Snow White’s father wasn’t really a kind-hearted prince. He used and abused women mercilessly. After Snowy’s mom died of mysterious causes, the handsome prince was in need of a spouse to handle his bratty daughter and provide him with a male heir.
After his untimely death, Cinderella became queen inheriting a magical mirror sitting in a secured castle chamber. This mirror could not only see into the past, but acted as an eye to her kingdom so she could see events happening in real time.
Using first person narrative, Valle unfolds Snow White’s story through the eyes of a spoiled princess whose only desire is to capture the heart of her beloved Hunter while staying as far away from Cinderella as possible, for the evil queen just wants Snowy dead so she can secure the reign of the kingdom for herself.
Vale has fun relating Snow White’s story twisting the original into a pretzel while producing an entertaining version that would make Disney roll over in his grave.
Sneaky Snow White is an exciting read for Vale’s YA audience and any reader who enjoys a re-telling of a Grimm story.

Sneaky Snow White Dark Fairy Tale Queen Series Book 2 (Audible Audio Edition) Anita Valle Caitlin Kelly Books Reviews
This is a perfect dark fantasy! I love how everything makes sense and falls into place! It's different and the tale is as cold and as bitter as the chill of frost. I love how the fairytales are woven together into one wonderful series. I cannot wait to read the surprises and darkness of Rotten Rapunzel! Please read this amazing book! It has bitter and heartbreaking romance, bits of interwoven violence, and exciting fairytale features! Loved it!
I loved this book. Snow is so selfish, but then she has good reason. Read sinful Cinderella first she also is evil with good reason. So easy and fun to read. These stories take such a wonderful turn on the original fairy tales. All are good and basically complete with no cliff hangers. But each leave a need to read the next story because all the characters entwine with each other.
After reading Sinful Cinderella, I was excitedly awaiting this book. Anita Valle did not disappoint. While I love her Nine Princess Novella Series a great deal, these books take fairy tales and add inventive twists. The plot was unique and unpredictable, and the characters were interesting. Most of all, the twists and decisions she made to remake the story of Snow White were brilliant. I'd recommend any novella by Anita Valle.
Despite having happy relations with her siblings, Anita Valle seems to understand family disfunction, and knows that the best fairy tales seem to have that disfunction at their heart. Snow White is a fairy-tale princess all-but-orphaned in a whirl of several generations of other-worldly family disfunction.
I bought "Sneaky Snow White" after enjoying "Sinful Cinderella," which was a fine novella. "Snow White" is so much better. Valle is developing her voice as a writer, and this novel is all the better for it. Where "Cinderella" was a delightful twist on a familiar tale, "Snow White" is rich with complex characters, including an old friend from "Cinderella," makes a much-welcome (to the reader, at least) return.
Valle's writing, purposeful and direct in "Cinderella," rises to moments of poetic artistry in "Snow White." Describing a moment in the woods, she writes, "The moon slides blades of silver light through the trees but all else is blackness." I'm right there with her.
As she describes an unexpected discovery, her description is at once spare, moody, and full of foreshadowing “Near the back of the meadow, a solitary tower looms above me, sharp and black against the sky. Thee's a door at the bottom, a window near the top, and a pointed roof covered in shingles. It's a very tall tower, at least five floors, and menacing as a spear.”
"Cinderella" was a fun read just for the story. "Snow White's" story is every bit as captivating, only moreso because of Valle's superb writing.
Once again, I fell for a clever cover. And once again Anita didn’t disappoint with the words on the page. So, let’s start with the words -- a confident playfulness not hitherto seen from our little prose minx. “And what do I do when I do?” And, “You are a hunter, Hunter. Hunt her.”
There is no doubt that Anita’s voice took a giant leap forward with this book. She’s more than willing to break a few rules to set both a mood and scene. And she uses such word-play to great effect in painting her character Snow White. For on the surface, Snow White is a one-dimensional, unlikeable, cruel, wicked character. Not even the revelation of Snow White’s painful past softens Snow White’s edges. No, were it left up to straightforward narrative, I think Cinderella would’ve trumped Snow White as the nobler of the two.
However, hidden in her narrative voice Anita has mastered the art of conflicting voices. As the narrative voice paints Snow White as just plain despicable, her inner voice presents us a young woman in turmoil. All too often her actions do not match what is going on in her head. A young woman who can think “And it’s so much more satisfying to punish the living,” when pondering just how she was going to destroy Cinderella, can just a few pages later shout “Cinderella! Get out of there it’s making you sick.”
Delightfully whimsical and full of plot twists which made this a one sit read (as usual with Anita) I eagerly await the release of Rotten Rapunzel.
